The Search for the ultimate D&D 5th Edition App...
I've been playing Advanced Dungeons & Dragons since forever, first edition guy here and I mean first edition, my first players handbook was the black one with the idol on front. With a short hiatus to Pathfinder during the 4th edition days. But the group has returned to the fold and now we're happily playing 5th ed. Mostly I'm the dungeonmaster but sometimes someone else in the group wants to take a shot at it and I be a player...
I've been looking for a tablet app to manage the character sheet(s). In the 3.x and pathfinder days an app was necessary the pluses and minuses from a gazillion of sources was impossible to track with just pen and paper. Herolab by Lone wolf became the favorite pathfinder app (IOS, OSX, win), I even bought it! They have some SRD support for the 5th ed. but not the whole deal, that is a community effort, because they do not have been able to get a license from Wizards of the Coast. the SRD version must be bought, I think it is to expensive for just the SRD.
I have been searching for a useful 'smart' charactersheet and there are some gianormous nifty excel sheets out there that do more or less the job. ForgedAnvil needs a mention here 'coz thats the one most player in my group use. But I kind a like a tablet as my 'sheet', less obtrusive then a laptop and I don't like Excel (linux guy here). So I tried a few and settled for now on the Lions Den, Fightclub 5th ed app (IOS android) with some added value from github imports, because it also comes only with the SRD and its free for one character and a few euro's if you want to manage a whole portfolio.
The import of the github stuff is a bit of a hassle so I will try to document it here
